      Hey There,

First time poster, long time RetroPie user, I've managed to get it running on pretty much anything except for a particularly troublesome old Mac Mini...

      • Mac mini (Mid 2010), Model #A1347, EMC: 2364
      • Intel Core2Duo (2.4GHz) 64-bit
      • 8 GB RAM (2x 4GB PC3-8500)
      • Nvidia GeForce 320M (256MB shared SD RAM)
      • 250GB Samsung SSD (originally running final version of MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 + all security and firmware updates as of today)

The problem is that no matter which debian/ubuntu distro I install on this mac, RetroPie crashes at launch after being successfully installed as per these standard instructions. Doesn't even get to the Emulation Station splash screen, I get a completely blank fullscreen solid color (usually black or white) and then brought right back to the desktop. This is not the first old mac that I've configured in this way, but this is the first time there have been any problems. The machine is definitely in good working order and has been thoroughly vetted via 3rd party hardware diagnostic tools.

Linux installer USB's created using Rufus on a PC running Windows 10, then again for good measure using Balena Etcher on a MacBook Pro running MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. I've tried this process with the following distros...

      • Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (64-bit)
      • Ubuntu Budgie 20.04.1 LTS (64-bit)
      • Lubuntu 20.04.1 LTS (64-bit)
      • Lubuntu 19.04 LTS (64-bit)

Anyone interested in trying to hash this out with me?

Run emulationstation --debug from a terminal window and post the output. My guess is that there's no HW accelerated GL support, but the log output would help confirming the assumption.
