Hi, I recently upgraded to the latest version of RetroPie and suddenly Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3 are not working anymore. I can only exit the game by pressing START + SELECT. Crash Team Racing works flawlessly, though. I've already read this topic but nothing suggested seems to work and I don't have access to a working retroarch-core-options.cfg file. I changed all pad types to dualshock but the problem persists. No error/autoconfig messages appear on my screen. What should I do? It worked out of the box before the update, I didn't even need to configure anything besides my controller...

        [https://retropie.org.uk/forum/post/248454]( Me too :( )

I assumed that I'd messed up the config file, but I can't see anything in the retroarch.cfg or options that look be related.

@busywait Yeah... This HAS to be the new update's fault because it was working right before I updated my RetroPie installation. I tried rebooting, reconfiguring the controller, changing pads to dualshock mode from the RetroArch menu and even from within the retroarch-core-options.cfg file but nothing works.

It's the new multi-tap defaults that disable the input - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28676/

@mitu Hi, thank you for you response but I can't find the "Multitap" option. I enabled the "Show other input settings" flag but nothing happens.

EDIT: I restarted the game and now it's there. I disabled Multitap and now it works! THANK YOU!

I think after you make that change you need to close the menu (Hotkey + X) and reopen it to see the change.

@sgrontflix I think that the latest updates to the emulator conflict with old configs. I ran into the same problem, no matter the setting, the controller configs were wonky across all games. I had to remove all the custom settings and redownload the emulator to get default configs for it to be consistent again. I think that it has to do with moving the controller type from settings to controllers and the added mutitap menu. 🤷‍♂️
