Is there a way i can get all audio to sync correctly for the retro pi for Sega CD? this seems to be a common issue people have with Sega CD or Turbografx CD except it's usually no music and sound effects only. i don't have any issues with other Sega CD games like Sonic CD for example or the Lunar series.

I gave it a try and the sound effects seem to work - selecting units/setting the action, etc. What emulator/game format are you playing on ? Some extra info, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, would be useful.

That usually happens because of mis-named .bin files, as Linux is case sensitive, the filename in the .cue doesn't match what's on disk.

@mitu 1.8.8 - Picodrive (1.97-3cde80b) i access the retro arch quick menu by using select+x and the files is a bin file and a cue file, they match name wise. i'm new to all of this since i got a retropie 3b+ as a christmas gift from a friend.

@luminarii Dark Wizard has more than 1 .bin file - http://redump.org/disc/6136/. Are you sure you have the full game ? Compare the hashes to the ones on the Redump site and see if they match.

@mitu how do i compare the hashes? do i need a certain program? i don't know how to do any of this. i know the game has at least 12 tracks which i assume are for music.

@Luminarii you can use the command line on the Pi and run md5sum on the files or - if you have a PC - you can use 7zip to calculate the checksums.

@luminarii Yes, you can, you just need to enable SSH on the Pi before connecting.

@luminarii I don't know how you run the command - it expects to give it the filename to calculate the checksum - but on the PC (Windows) the command is not available.
On the Pi, here is what works for me:

                        cd $HOME/RetroPie/roms/segacd
                        md5sum Dark\ Wizard\ \(USA\)*

@mitu i feel like i'm getting closer and closer... i seem to have the same exact files as you. track numbers with bins just like that and there's 12 of them now... but i don't know how to use those commands, do i type one line in individually and hit enter for each one or after all of them? and when i do try entering one of the commands on the pi it's not visible on the screen but i can tell the line is there.

yep, we have the same exact files, this is not a bad dump so it has to be something else. i'm so determined just to get this one game working on the Pi Sonic CD, the Lunar Series and the other games work just fine.

Try installing genesis-plus-gx as an alternate SegaCD emulator and see if you get the same problem. Make sure that you haven't turned off Sound Effects in the game options.
