Mayflash f101 Issues

Tried configuring my mayflash f101 arcade stick to my retropie unit, i went into settings using the existing controller to navigate, i pressed a as suggested and it found the mayflash stick i then went through the process of configuring the stick and that then could navigate the menus and select games no problem but going into games the stick is completely non responsive. Any ideas why ?
