I have a Raspberry Pi 3B that I'm trying to set up with RetroPie. I have installed RetroPie 4.7 and I have an 8BitDo SF30. I had set it up with my RetroPie a few years ago, but I stopped using them after a while and both the controller and the raspberry pi had been sitting on my shelf since. I worked through the documentation here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/8Bitdo-Controller/

The problem I'm having is that the RetroPie gets to the "Searching..." screen, but never actually connects. I made sure to hold the Select button for three seconds on the controller so that the blue light is blinking rapidly, but the RetroPie complains that no bluetooth devices were found. I actually had another SF30 controller I was trying to connect and it had the same issue, so I think the controller isn't the problem.

Does anyone have any idea for what else I could try to get these connected?

Edit: I noticed something flash quickly on the screen before the "Searching..." screen appeared. It's only on the screen for a split second, but it seems to say something like:

      ERROR: lib/helpers.c:319:intf_supported:assertion failed: (introspection_proxy /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/bluetooth.sh: line 120: 13

Both of lines are cut off. I wasn't able to get a better picture, but I can try if it would help. I'm not smart enough to decipher what these could mean. Does anyone have any idea?

@jplank Are you using a fresh install or did you just run the upgrade on your old installation ? It looks like the system's bluetooth utilities have an error.

So it happens with a fresh installed 4.7.1 image from retropie.org.uk/download ? Will have to try later on, but we didn't had any complaints with this kind of error with this image.

@mitu Actually, I just went through the process of setting up my memory card again and tried the bluetooth again and this time it worked. So, I think something weird just happened with the installation.

Im also having issues with the bluetooth and connecting 8BITDO controllers on RetroPie 4.7.1 on the raspberry pi 4.
I've tried about a dozen different tutorials.

When I go back to retropie 4.6, they connect straight away without any issues,

                Any ideas?

I too have problems connecting SF30 to Retropie. It just doesn't recognize it when I try to. This goes for both my Raspberry Pi 3 and 4, and they're both installed with the latest image 4.7.1.

I just received my SF30 8bitdo controller yesterday and haven't updated the firmware (I was unsuccessful in doing so). I don't know if that matters.

My Retropie 3 was able to detect my Xbox One Series X controller, but it failed when going through the "security" step.

I have the 2.4 wireless connector for the SF30 - has anyone succeeded in connecting this to the Raspberry Pi? Doesn't seem to make a difference for me.

@rateye777 Is it possible to download retropie 4.6 anywhere? For either Raspberry 3 or 4.
