How can I push the limits of the Pi 4 further and get results in retropie?
-
Bottom line is that my Pi 4 is max overclocked at 2.17Ghz, with 750Khz GPU overclock. However, when playing Saturn, Dreamcast, N64, etc. I feel like I could get better performance by boosting it harder.
My Pi 4 will happily play DC, PSP, PS1, Saturn, N64 etc. for hours at a time and doesn't ever get over 44 degrees C (either CPU or GPU). I have a aluminium heatsink case with a couple fans that seems to be doing an outstanding job.
I feel like because of that, it could be pushed harder and possibly get rid of some slowdown issues in Dreamcast, Saturn, N64, and PSP games?
Anyone have their own Pi 4 setup to push the limit?

Pi
You probably get better results clocking it to only 2Ghz
For Saturn and N64 you'll have to wait till emulation for that system gets better. most DC games play fine.
Likely DC is gonna be a ton better on the next Raspi, but Saturn and N64 not so much. -

Yes, oddly I've found this to be true.
2.147Ghz just has random problems, like sometimes it won't boot, sometimes it boots to the emulation station splash screen and freezes, sometimes it boots fine but games won't work. Weird. Temperature still is no issue, but it just bugs out.
2.0Ghz is 100% stable.

Yeah they're ok but not perfect, I'm going to try Naomi games next as apparently they run much better.

@rva-818x-laystar The only game i found running better than its DC counterpart is Marvel VS Capcom 2
the rest either runs the same or worse in the case of Dead Or Alive 2
