PS1 Controller Fix
-
I discovered something that I think other people may want to know. I am not sure if I am posting incorrectly and if that is the case I apologize. I noticed that on the PS1 Retropie docs page there is an outline on what to do if your controller is not responding. It outlines how to use the retroarch menu to make some changes so that your PS1 controller responds for PS1 games without dualshock. I noticed that on my version of Retroarch the instructions are inaccurate.
My version is 1.8.8. I noticed that when you select options the option for port 1 controls is not available. What you actually need to do is select options and then select "show other input settings" and change that to on. Then scroll to the top and press A or the option to "save game options file" then resume and exit the game and then restart the game. then scroll down to options and select the multitap options and change them both to off and save the "game options file" again.
Then resume and restart the game and then exit the quick menu and select "settings" then "input" then "port 1 binds". Then map each of the controls by selecting it and pressing the corressponding buttons. Except for the analog dualshocks leave those alone because this only applies to game without the analog. Once completed select "save autoconfig" then exit the game and then enter the game and your controls will work. I couldnt find this anywhere so I thought you would want it so that if anyone runs into the same issue they can get PS1 working on newer versions of retroarch. I assume someone will add it to the retropie docs assuming I did not miss it somewhere.
I also made a youtube video at
Hopefully that helps anyone else
