edit carousel in carbon theme

hello,

first i have to let you know, that i'm not a coder, so most of the things i do follow the try and error principle.

i would like to change a few things with the carousel in the carbon theme, but there is no code for that in any of the xml files within the theme folder.

i opened some theme.xml files from other themes and found something like this:

			<carousel name="systemcarousel">
				<type>horizontal</type>
				<color>eeeeeecc</color>
				<logoScale>1.5</logoScale>
				<maxLogoCount>3</maxLogoCount>

i tried to paste this code in the carbon.xml but it didn't work (emulationstation crashed). can anybody please tell me if this can be done with the carbon theme and if yes, which xml file i have to edit and where exactly to put the code.
