The problem: configure the "num2" keyboard key to P0 Swap Difficulty and "num3" keyboard to P1 Swap Difficulty using lr-stella

If swap difficulty is unavailable with lr-stella, then I could use some guidance in how to set up a hotkey/macro that would execute a swap difficulty from a to b or from b to a with a single key.

Additional information: In my installation, lr-stella is able to switch player 0 and 1 difficulty a and b using the L1, L2, R1, R2 (shoulder and trigger) switches on a connected PS4 controller. I can also map these four buttons to the keyboard. The problem is that in my application, I need to be able to use the swap difficulty since I have a very limited number of buttons.

In stella, swap difficulty can be mapped to the keyboard by using the tab key during startup, but my application cannot use stella, I believe that it has to use lr-stella. This is because I'm running a Adafruit 2.2" pi TFT. Stella can't be configured to use this tiny screen. In my final build of this project, the small switches on the pi hat will be mapped to the keyboard "num1", "num2", "num3" and "num4" keys. There are 4 buttons available on this hat.

Pi Model or other hardware: B+
      Power Supply used: 2.5A
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: dell usb keyboard, ps4 dualshock
      Emulator: lr-stella
