For Google Drive issues, would it be easier if I put everything on GitHub?Let's wait for Matt first, perhaps he can improve his script.
But indeed github could be a better way in the long run.
There are some advantages like :
- forking
- easy collaborating
- perhaps skipping files when cloning for an update
But there could also be some downsides :
- how much data will we have in the future and what is the data-limit of github ?
- I think cloning doesn't work when we add files manual locally because it wants to sync with the repository. So testing files on the harddrive becomes more difficult.
- Perhaps we also face some ownership issues
We can do some tests with a few files and see how it works.
-
Matt changed his script and added the option
-m
or--mtimes
.
linkI added this in my script (not on github yet).
It's downloading all again now, just as Matt explained.
When I am ready we have to change 1 file and revert it back to test if this solution works.Edit:
It has downloaded now.
Tried to download everything again and now it said that the filesexist
.
Looking good, so far !So now you can throw in an different file with the same name and I can test if it's working.
For example, you could place your old pofo.zip back for a while.If you want to test it also, use this line (1058) with the added
-m
:python3 - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/$1 -m -P "$2"

Can you put in a file for me so I can test it too ?
Can you put first a dummy "videopin.zip" onto the google drive ?
And after I acknowledge, the real one ? -
@folly
I put an arcade "artwork"
look for berzerk.zip -
Got it.
You can now update berzerk -
@folly
Done, I replaced them by a dummy -
Too bad, the file isn't updated.
It could depend on the time difference.
Perhaps it's a good idea to leave the file on google drive, so I can test tomorrow again.Good idea ?
-
@folly
Google wrote "file with no data"
I did another dummy. -
-
-
@folly
No problem -
-
@folly
Instead of replace it by dragging I have deleted it and reloaded it. So now it's not version 1 or 2 (like Google Drive wrote), it's a new file. Is it change something on your side? -
I tried now (it's now 22 sept 7:49 on my clock).
It worked.Perhaps we have to try your trick again and see if this works instandly.
We can test around the same time as yesterday. -
@folly
I replaced the artwork file (berzerk.zip) by a new dummy with different content inside. -
A bit later now but I just tried and it downloaded OK ;-)
-
Do you have time to throw in the original berzerk again ?
Seems you don't have time right now to test if files get downloaded instantly after adding.
No hurry we can test it later.
