retropie on twisteros - wine box86 port script

hi folks i'm running retropie on twisteros and i'm trying to create a port script that loads a game using wine.
so the script works when called from a terminal running on twisteros
but not when i run it from retropie
tried using matchbox but it says another wm is running which i'd assume is twisteros gui?
what are my options here?
