No sound in ports
-
Hi guys,
Ever since running a RetroPie-Setup script update a couple of weeks ago, I've been experiencing issues with a variety of ports, namely lzdoom, tyrquake, ioquake3, and iortcw (which I understand is not part of the official distribution, however I think the issue isn't with individual ports). The issue is that I am getting no sound whatsoever out of those cores. No music, no sound effects, nothing.
As libretro ports seem to work fine (lr-prboom, lr-tyrquake), my feeling is that the update broke something that the other ports rely on.Any ideas guys?

@zering Had the same problem today. I was able to fix it thanks to another forum post here. The fix is to create a new file in /home/pi called
.alsoftrc
, with the following content:[alsa] mmap = false
I did that, and sound came back without a problem.

@g30ff Indeed, that did the trick. Not sure how or why but I've been enjoying shooting red gargoyles out of the sky in Heretic for the last ten minutes - and even better now I can hear it too! Thanks for the fix.

@zering Does that fix sound in emulation station? I did the previously posted trick and got sound back in my roms but still no sound in ES.

@daviddraper I can't say, I don't have sound in ES normally.
-
@zering its subtle. Back when i had sound there was a quiet click when I scrolled through roms in the system view. Not a big deal at all but a nice touch.

Check if you haven't got PulseAudio installed. If you go into the Audio settings in RetroPie - does it show PulseAudio at the top ?
