      I was trying to remove all the systems I don't have roms for (infostation, msdos, scummvm, dreamcast, etc) so that they don't show up in EmulationStation.

      Using the SMB shares from Windows, It didn't look like I had anything in \roms\dreamcast

      However, I ssh'd into he pi and found systemManger.cdi (must be hidden) in ~/RetroPie/roms/dreamcast/

      so,

      rm ~/RetroPie/roms/dreamcast/systemManager.cdi did the trick

          I'd rather not remove something I might later regret. Easier this way;

          mv /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/dreamcast /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/.dreamcast

          or

            @BenWlson Yeah, it was a bit confusing because there appeared to be nothing in the dreamcast folder; I didn't really want to delete it, the tip on the wiki ti move unwanted rom folders to a new folder caused "unused" is probably the best approach.

            "You can delete the rom folders for the systems you don't want or you can move the rom folders you dont want into a folder you create called unused."

              Comment out the Dreamcast section of /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg.

                @zerojay commenting out probably isn't the best way of doing it as anytime a new system is added it's overwritten, but once the menu is more modular hopefully we won't have to manually mess with things to remove unwanted stuff

                  My method is to just rename the system rom folder to something like "dreamcast.disabled"

                  This way, I haven't edited any config files, moved, or removed anything. Everything is exactly where it should be, and it's clearly labelled "disabled". If I ever want to get something back, I just remove the ".disabled" part.

                    I have noticed that when you rename folders, or add a new folder that you then move the unwanted ones into, you end up with those additional folders being added to your USB rom sync service. That's not the end of the world, but just an extra mess. Personally, what I've done is renamed the upper/lowercase of one letter of the files causing the problems. For example, I change "start.txt" to "start.tXt" or something like that. If the file happens to reappear during an update or something, then I'll just rename the new one.

                    I AM ERROR.

                      Oh that's interesting. I don't copy roms via USB, I use an FTP client, so I've never had that problem. But good to know!

                        Yep, better to just hide it from the menu. Rename the folder to dreamcast_hidden
