Problem with backup using Windows
-
Hi Gang,
i try to make my first backup with Win32 Disk Imager but i have problem and dont know how to resolve it.
I do it with this steps:
https://howchoo.com/g/nmexndnlmdb/how-to-back-up-a-raspberry-pi-on-windowsBut on the step 5 when i click 'read' button i see error and process stop:
'the disk is not large enough for the selected image'I have enough space on my hard drive (57GB) and retropie image on sd card have less than 10GB.
What i do wrong ? Any hints ?

What is the size of your sd? 64GB? 128 GB?
-
@saccublenda 256GB Kingston
-
@retrus You have 57GB free on your HDD?
Then of course the 256GB Image does not fit on this HDD.
The imager uses the maximum size of the SD-CARD, even if there are only three C64-games stored on it. -
Yes, the image that you create will have the same size of the sd, regardless of how much free space it has.

Ok, thanks for fast help Guys @saccublenda @sirhenrythe5th
So if my image with roms have for example have 10GB and its on 256GB SD card, when i make backup in result i have 256GB image or 10GB image ?
Now i know that i must have free space on hard disk like my SD card.
Its possible to make backup from SD card to SD card with Win32 Disk Imager ? -

As said in the previous replies, the backup image will have the same size of the sd card, so 256GB.

I guess so, but the target sd card will not be bootable, it will just contain a single 256Gb

@saccublenda thanks !

@retrus You may use rpi-clone to clone your card to another, smaller one, and then run the backup on Windows.
