      Hi,

I installed RetroPie, launched it on my Pi 3 B+ and can't locate a "RetroPie" menu item from the Main menu when the system boots up. I used the Raspberry Pi Imager on a microSD card and this is my first Raspberry Pi project, so I'm a huge noob.

The Main menu just lists: Scraper, Sound settings, UI settings, Game Collection settings, Other settings, Configure input, and Quit. There's no way for me to access Wi-fi settings, for instance.

I found some previous posts with the same issue but, because I'm a noob, I didn't understand the solutions in them. I don't know how to access the RetroPie setup script or even the command line from the Emulatorstation/RetroPie menu.

      MainMenu.jpg

Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
Power Supply used: Official Raspberry Pi Power Supply
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.7.1 (RPI 2/3)
Built From: Raspberry Pi Imager v1.6
USB Devices connected: Keyboard, mouse, gamepad
Controller used: Off-brand Sega Saturn type gamepad
Error messages received: No error message shown
Verbose log (if relevant): I don't know how to provide this
Guide used: Official Raspberry Pi Imager guide
      File: I don't know
      Emulator: n/a
Attachment of config files: How do I provide this?
How to replicate the problem: Problem is peristent.

@hyperstarr The menu you are looking for is located as a system on the carousel. Systems are listen in alphabetical order, so just scroll over until RetroPie shows.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't know there was a carousel. In fact, when I cancelled back from the main menu, it just read "Configuration". I didn't know that was a selectable item! I feel so dumb right now. I always just went straight to "Main menu" with the start button.

Just to check everything is as should be: Should there be pre-installed systems in the carousel? I read somewhere that RetroPie comes with some preinstalled emulators. Configuration is the only item there at the moment. Is that normal?

Yes, there are quite a few installed.

Yes, the system carousel gets populated when you add games/roms in the rom folders - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/#transferring-roms.

I don't quite understand (sorry). If there are quite a few emulators/systems installed, why don't I see them in the carousel? "Configuration" is the only item in the carousel.

@hyperstarr YOu need to add games to the roms folders. For example, if you put a game in the NES folder (roms/nes) then the NES will show up as a system in the carousel. The carousel auto-hides systems that have no games.

                  Brilliant, thank you very much!
