So I want to be able to use my rpi4 to output to hdmi 1 and have a gpio driven eink display to show other info that isnt related to retropie but instead info I feed it. How would I do this? The reason I want this is so I can create multiple rpi modules that will show what game system has been designated to them and show an animated gif on the eink display while that system is 'docked'. So it will be like a nintendo switch but depending on the 'switch' that's docked it will show a different gif and system name. I'm extremely fond of cartridges and want to do something to represent that. So what it comes down to is if I can use both displays at once or if i can even tell another rpi( probably rpi0) what system is docked and to show a different gif and name depending on the host rpi. Any help is appreciated.
