Vilros case cooling performance
-
Hello all. New poster here. I’m planning on putting together a RetroPie box for my brother as a wedding gift in the next few weeks. I’m perfectly comfortable with the build and setup process but my plans necessitate careful case selection.
You see, my daughter is working on a piece of artwork that I’m planning on having laser engraved on the top of the case. I like the all aluminum Vilros case for the material and the clean design but they have two versions of it. One with a cooling fan and one without. Obviously, I like the fan less case for the large uninterrupted surface for the engraving, but I have no idea if the cooling requirements will call for a fan.
I’m planning on using a Raspberry Pi 4 (8GB). It will probably be overclocked to some extent for better performance in more intensive N64 and PSX games. Can I get away with the passively cooled case or will I really need a fan?

@shootemupy2k I bought the Vilros clear case with the fan on Amazon. Overclocked my Pi 4 to 2100/750 CPU/GPU. Had it for over a year, even dropped it a few times. Never had a problem.
