Im not sure where to make an adjustment, I already tried the retropie setting resolution from default to 1920x1080p 60hz and that did nothing about the screen being adjusted for the 48" screen. Why is there wasted space all around the edges?

      Raspberry PI 4 B
      RetroPie 4.7.11
Built from: SD image from Retropie.org
Emulators: the ones I ran so far, Neo Geo, FBA, Snes (all current default emulators for that build)
HDMI: Its connected via HDMI to HDMI micro to hdmi port 0 (the one next to the usb c power port)

In order to get a screenshot I hooked it up to my PC and used OBS.

It looks small when running cores too and a waste of space.

@dankcushions Thank you that did the trick, I uncommented the #disable_overscan=1

This inexpensive device capture card is what I used.
