I'm considering migrating from a Pi 4 to my gaming PC for my retro needs (the urge to play Saturn, 3DO, etc. is just too great), and I'd like to stick with RetroPie if only to make the migration process as easy as possible (gamelist.xml's, scraped box arts, etc.), but I'm a bit unclear if I can install RetroPie on my (Linux/Ubuntu) gaming PC as a standalone thing. Like I obviously don't want my daily use PC to boot into EmulationStation on startup or anything like that. Is this something that's possible, or would I be better off just biting the bullet and going with RetroArch and reconfiguring/rescraping everything?

(I did look into getting the basic non-RetroPie EmulationStation frontend, but of course it's been abandoned for years and I can't even install it, says "Can't fulfill dependencies". Oh well.)

@seraphiscain Of course you can, I even use my main desktop, an i5 core with onboard video, I have installed Linux mint, and use it as any PC, however, whenever I can, I already have Retropie with it on with my favorite games.
I did exactly the same as you, I migrated all the contents of my raspberry, to the PC, without any problems.

Instructions are based on Ubuntu 16.04 but works just the same on newer versions: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Debian/
