Cannot navigate through Libreto Atari 800 emulator menu (menu at full speed)

Hi there,
I have a Raspberry Pi 4 with 8GB RAM configured with Retropie. I am trying to setup the Libreto Atari 800/5200 emulator following ETA's prime handy YouTube guide (included below).
However when I try to navigate through the emulator menu. My keyboard seems to fly through all the options at full speed. Pressing the down arrow once would fly me all the way to the last option in the menu, which makes it impossible to operate.
Even the ALT+Y key combination gives the same behaviour. So I basically cannot set-up the location of the BIOSes via this menu.
I don't even know how to google this problem, even though I tried!
What am I doing wrong?
