      Pi4 8gb w/512gb SD card
Standard Pi4 (canna kit) power supply)
      Retripie v4.6
      USB Keyboard connected
      USB Mini-Pac connected

I am using a MINI-PAC with the Ultimarc trackball.. The trackball works in PIXEL, and Retroarch GUI.. I have tried everything to get the trackball to work in mame 2016 with no luck.. Set verbose logging but don't see any issues:

/opt/retropie/configs/all/runcommand-onstart.sh: line 17: /home/pi/.attract/scripts/amlastplayed.sh: No such file or directory
      Parameters:
      Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mame2016/mamearcade2016_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/arcade/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/gt2k.zip" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
[CDROM] No sg devices found and sg kernel module is not loaded.
      SOURCE FILE: ../../../../../src/mame/drivers/itech32.cpp
      PARENT: 0
      NAME: gt2k
      DESCRIPTION: Golden Tee 2K (v1.00)
      YEAR: 2000
      MANUFACTURER: Incredible Technologies
Value not supported for option netdevprovider - falling back to auto
      MAIN FIRST
      w:384 h:240 a:1.333333
      RETRO DEINIT
      retro_finish begin
      Average speed: 99.82% (84 seconds)
      retro exit machine
      retro_finish end

If I change the emulator to advmame it works.. but the image is very small and no bezels... I tried mame2003 but (golden tee) roms won't load.. Again verbose logging shows no issues..

I even used the USB adapter from Ultimarc to see if that would work.. still no go..

I am frustrated.. spent days working on this.. I even thought maybe my MINI-PAC was bad, put in a new one.. nope...

I followed the wiki page for trackballs, made all the settings in my config files. Googled the subject to death and tried everything I found.. nothing..

Man, I could really use some suggestions if anyone can help...

Maybe it's just the sensitivity setting like in this thread?

I found that it's an issue with the pi4 8gb version... In a pi4 4gb it works fine.. This is VERY odd...

Actually, I was mistaken.. not working in a pi4 4gb.. works in advmame but not mame 2016

I did edit the mame.ini and set multimouse to mouse.. still no go..

I set the sensitivity to 70 for both X and Y.. no go..

@wavfact Alas, I have no experience with MAME 2016. However, I would approach the problem by finding a rom with trackball support that's working in MAME 2003 to see if the issue is there, too.

I figured out what was going on.. All works now..

in configs/arcade there was a copy or a full retroarch.cfg in there and wasn't being updated.. I tried removing it, adding a symbolic link to confis/all/retroarch.cfg nothing would work... Game would just exit on me.. So I modified that file for input_driver and mouse index.. all is fine now..
