Control Panel: Retropie and Arcade dual mod

Hi,
just bought an original neo geo MVS arcade board and would like to use my custom 2 player CP for Retropie & Mame ( Ipac2 in keyboard mode) with it
thru a jamma supergun with DB15 neo geo ports.
What is the best dual mod you'd suggest for the CP? Simply connecting extra wires for each button/stick from the ipac connectors to DB15 cables ?
When connected to the arcade board of course Ipac would be powered off.
Any specific experience you can share?
