      Since all the ROM files I have are from games I own and dump/extract, I find scraping to be difficult. I can find arcade ROM names pretty easily. Is there a good list of recognized filenames that aren't on illegal download sites?

        @themazingness Depends how many games you've got but if you've extracted your own files I guess we're not talking hundreds? So the ones that won't scrape you can look at https://thegamesdb.net/ or https://www.screenscraper.fr/ to find the game's accepted rom names, as I think each rom has a few accepted names.

          @retropieuser555 Thanks! That's very helpful.

          We're talking hundreds. Between the thread below, my INL Retro for cartridge dumps, RetroArch for PSX disc dumps,
          and creating ISOs of discs RetroArch can't dump, I've been pretty resourceful.

            TOSEC and No-Intro dats should give you most (if not all) of the scraper accepted names in a convenient off-line list. Just open them with notepad.

              @themazingness The problem is that most scrapers use filenames to detect roms and that is rather pointless (you can rename any filename to an accepted name and it will work) on the other hand, I prefer to use checksums to do that, which I find much more reliable.

              Give this a spin: http://77.68.23.83/download.html and you will see if it matches more roms even if the names are totally not inline with what it is expected than other scrapers.

              Afterwards, looking at the gamelist.xml you'll be bale to see the name of the game and your original rom name, so eventually you could rename these.

              Cheers,

                  @sleve_mcdichael Hahah ok, good one, true it sounds strange, but It is really a scraper. If you do not want to download, I understand totally.

                    @kiro yeah I saw it there too. I'd be a lot more (well, a little...any) interested if it was on github or something.

                      @sleve_mcdichael Yep, it is not ready for github yet, but it is a heavy revisited version of my old scraper:
