I'm having the same problem with lr-PPSSPP. I have not checked PPSSPP yet.

        Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
        ES-DE on a GMKtec K6 (Windows 11, 32GB RAM)

i have this problem after the latest update. I reinstall RetroPie , i build core from source but the result was the same. I have to find a older version of the core to test it.

I'm having the exact same issue as well as problems with other games, from what i've read on other forums/comments is that the most recent updates might have messed with PSP emulation, but i just now started trying to get all this working and ran into this so i have no idea whether it was working previously

@rkhale01 lr-PPSSPP has had problems for me for a while, previous to this it was freezing the graphics. @windg did you manage to find an older version that worked?

I try the core from the Lakka, where the game dont have this problem, but the game doesn't start.

@george-spiggott From what I had read, something about PPSSPP emulation got messed up for burnout legends that caused the game to not function well in either LR OR PPSSPP that had worked previously. Do you know if this game worked previous to the last update? I myself am curious if others are getting better results now or in the previous update.

@windg Same issue here. Works fine on my older image using PPSSPP. As soon as I updated, both GTA VCS and GTA LCS have the same problem, just like what you posted. I've tried updating everything, building from source...no luck. EDIT other PSP games work fine, it's just these two games.

Same problem here on my Pi4 . There is the really old version of PPSSPP 1.5.4 listed as available on Retropie but it only works on Pi3. I setup my old Pi3 with Retropie and installed PPSSPP 1.5.4 on it. GTA:Vice City Stories works on my Pi3 with 1.5.4 but performance is horrible.

@windg this fixed the problem for me. I installed PPSSPP v1.10.2 and now GTA: Vice City Stories is working again:

It doesn't work for me, the compilation end with this error:

                          Error running 'git -C
                          /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/ppsspp/ppsspp checkout
                          -f 110020000 -b 110020000' returned 128

@reichling I’ve tried everything to install an older version. Is there anyway you could send me your ppsspp.sh file? Thanks for the help!

i follow @mitu instructions, on this topic, to downgrade the standalone ppsspp and now the game is working again!

Much appreciated, I noticed this issue about a month ago and I wasnt able to figure how to downgrade, Vice City is working great now.
Would I need to re-apply this ppsspp.sh file if I update the RetroPie scripts when I want to update my emulators??

You don't have to re-apply the script.

Is there a particular place you have to copy the script file to in order to run it?

                                            Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
