    Can an animated .gif be used as a screensaver image/background?

      The emulationstation screensaver recognises: .png and .jpg
      ..how about .gif ?

      I've added the prefix and played a few into my screensavers folder but they display but not animated? Any way of adding this functionality as small animated gifs look cool big on my screen? :)

          @mitu Not that I'd know how to implement it myself :(, but is there a simple reason why animated gifs aren't supported?

            @nevsan Why not use a video? Do you want animated images in a theme?

              @iandaemon Mainly the file size that I'd save in using Gifs rather than a video format - oh and I could make my own backgrounds and animations easily myself too.
