Amiga 1200
-
Hello.
Is there a trick to get Amiga 1200 to show up in my R4 Emulation Station? Amiga 500 shows up in the menu. I copied the amiga1200 folder full of roms (.lha) and nothing is showing up. I've got both Amiberry and lr-puae installed.
Any suggestions please? Thank you.

Please fill all the info asked in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
In RetroPie, there's no separate folders for each Amiga model - is this a custom image ? -
@mitu I'm running a custom build on a Rasberry Pi 4 with Retropie 4.7.7. I saw another build that had a separate menu for Amiga 1200 in Emulation Station. If it's not a separate folder, how do you distinguish between 500 and 1200 roms?
-
Where did you see this? I've never seen a separate list of 1200 or 500 Amiga roms.
As Mitu pointed out, there is no separation of Amiga roms in Retropie other than the Amiga CD32. The 1200 and 500 use the same emulator. It's just an option change in the menu to run whatever CPU you want.
Keep in mind, they may have manipulated the config files to allow for a "new" folder, then built the theme around that. Meanwhile, it's actually pointing to the same rom folder as the 500. You can do a lot with Retropie and ES if you know what files to play with

Is this a 3rd party image ? We don't support these images in the forums, as stated in the forum rules.

@jamrom2 haha, thanks Jam. I try not to mess with Emulation station too much in fear of really breaking it. I don't want to post a link in case it breaks forum rules, but it was the DZ Retro Machine 512gb image. I think I'll just leave it be. Sounds more trouble than it's worth.
Thanks!

Yes, as posted no support is offered to any other image other than the RetroPie image.
Simple reason is because of precisely what you're inquiring about.

@jamrom2 I guess I'm confused about this. I certainly don't intend to misuse these forums. I enjoy reading them every day. I purchased a Rasberry Pi4 arcade cabinet that came with a Retropie image on it. I've been modifying it myself ever since. Is that wrong?

@drdave79 please see point 5: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and https://retropie.org.uk/about/legal/

No, there's nothing wrong with learning and finding out aspects of your build...but the intent of this forum is to support those that chose to build on the RetroPie setup. It wouldn't be fair to anyone here that offers time to support all the other builds. Mainly because no one knows where they came from, and how they are structured/tweaked to suit whatever thier intent was.
It's nothing personal, and certainly not meant to keep people from posting, but more to keep the knowledge focused on the right mass that need help with the build they came here to use.
I've seen a lot of people over the past 6 years eventually realize they want to build based on the RetroPie build that is offered here. Personally, I think it's the best....and the best people supporting it.
Something to consider.
Best regards,
JamR

@jamrom2 Makes sense. I've put a lot of time into tweaking the original build I received, but I will research the site in more detail to make my own build based on the original retropie files.

I started the same way, with an Intellivision build that someone sent me...next thing I know it's 6 years later, 44 systems (mostly old skool consoles, PCs and arcade) working and trying to give back to the community.
It's a great hobby.

As stated numerous times and noted in the forum rules, we don't support 3rd party images, often distributing ROMs/games illegally and in breach of RetroPie's and included emulators' license.
It's your choice to either use the RetroPie's image and build yourself the system or use something else - but you'll not get support here in the forums for it.

@mitu Understood Mitu. I'm going to start work on my own build this weekend to avoid any more conflict.
