How to replicate the problem: Follow the guide above for standard installation

The main reason I am using this approach instead of the pre-made .img.xz files is so I can use Dolphin.

We don't support Ubuntu on the Pi, only Raspberry Pi OS. The doc page you linked is for PC installations.

@wolfyn-claw I have had similar problems experimenting with Ubuntu 64bit. I don’t believe your going to get much help with that. However you could try installing retropie on raspberry pi is beta 64 version. It worked for me.
