Installation fails on CrowPi2
-
I cannot install RetroPie on a CrowPi2. The installation proceeds to the RetroPie splash screen, then there is a further listing of command line output. Then it crashes, far too fast, alas, for me to see what that output says. (Big help, I know.)
The CrowPi2:
Model: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.4; 8 GB
Power Supply: 12v, 2 amp, 24 watt
RetroPie Version: 4.7.1
Built from: CrowPi2 supplied SD, then after that didn't work, a SD burnt from an image downloaded from RetroPie.org.uk. This image was burnt to a new SD card (Lexar 32GB.) The first burn was with BalenaEtcher; it would not install. The same (new) SD card was burnt a second time using Raspberry Pi Imager; it would not install. The same (new) SD card was burnt a third time using the linux 'dd' command; it would not install.
USB Devices Connected: display, mouse, keyboard, sometimes a CrowPi2 supplied game controller. (Note: the CrowPi2 has a lot of connections 'built-in.' I presume that most of them are GPIO.)
Error message received: I started and restarted the installation process and ran it at least 5 times with each SD "burn." Most got past the 'RetroPie' splash screen. I noted a lot of "failed" command line responses and the number of these failed responses increased as I re-ran the install for each "burn." When the RetroPie system installation crashed, there was no warning and no error and the screen went black. Please note that the CrowPi2 ships with two operating systems on two separate SD cards:
- The CrowPi2 system which is Raspberry Pi OS (PRETTY_NAME="Raspbian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)"
- A version of RetroPie, but I'm sorry, I don't know which one.
The CrowPi2 system installs and runs correctly.
Please advise. And thanks for wading through all this!

I'm a bit confused. If you're using the Pi4 image provided on retropie.org.uk/download, there's no additional installation to be done - RetroPie is already installed and the system should boot to EmulationStation.
How are you installing RetroPie ? Is a Raspberry Pi OS image from raspberrypi.org working on the device ?
