      Good afternoon,

I am currently working on running retropie on an old HP mirco server box. I plan on installing it on top of a linux ubuntu distro. My main question is does retropie have compatibility issues with PCie cards such as graphic cards, and usb 3.0 expansion cards? Also will I be able to use a TP Link AC 1300 usb wifi dongle? My main goal is to boot the pc directly into retropie.

      Any help is greatly appreciated!

As long as the Linux distribution that you choose (Debian/Ubuntu or any spin offs) supports your hardware, RetroPie shouldn't have any issues running on it.

I have installed Retropie on many different hardware platforms an it is indeed as Mitu states. One note to add however is the graphics card. Depending on its capabilities you might bump into issues when running Emulation Station showing a white screen. That has todo with a newer version of Glide, lacking in the video card of your pc. However, there is a solution for it, to be found on this forum as well (don’t know the link out of my head), which will install an older version of ES. Still you will see lacking performance in the emulators for the more advanced gaming systems since the video card is just too basic. Long story short, the video card in the microserver will be the weakest link here.

You mean OpenGL, Glide is a long gone 3d API, present only in the famed 3dfx Voodoo video cards.

FWIW, if your video card supports OpenGL 2.1, you shouldn't have any issues with EmulationStation. Some emulators might need a higher version though, so don't use a 10+ years old card and expect to support everything.

I got the system up and running. Looks like everything runs great except ps1. Everything in beetle runs slow. Any settings I can change to fix this?

Switch to duckstation and see if you get the same slowdown.
