Can't build RetroArch - installing RetroPie over Pi OS
-
Pi Model: 4B 4GB
Power Supply used: Official USB-C
RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: on top of Pi OS with desktop. Kernel 5.10.
USB Devices connected: KeySonic wireless keyboard w/trackpad
Controller used: N/A
Error messages received: "could not successfully build RetroArch"
Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Manual-Installation/How to replicate the problem:
Followed the above guide, culminating in running retropie_setup.sh. It all proceeds fine, but always ends with "could not successfully build RetroArch". I've tried wiping both RetroPie's setup folder and even the OS itself, but it always ends the same way.
Some guides suggest there's the option to use pre-built binaries rather than compiling from source (which takes a long time), but I'm never given that option. Anything obvious I may be missing?

Post your
/boot/config.txt
. If you've removed the(f)kms
overlay from it, then you should add it back - that's not a supported configuration and it's most likely the reason you don't have the binary install option. -
