PSP Games do not boot after adjusting Retroarch Settings
-
Hi all,
To preface, I have followed the troubleshooting steps on this thread about the same issue.
Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 4b
Power Supply used: Stock Canakit USB-C PSU
Built from: PINN (A enhanced fork of NOOBS)
USB Devices Connected: 1x 64GB Samsung USB Drive
Controller Used: Dualshock 4
Error Messages Received: See attachment
Verbose Log: N/A
Guide used: N/A
File: N/A
Emulator: lr-ppssppProblem:
I made the poor mistake of configuring some of the internal resolution settings from within the Retroarch menu while playing Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII on my Pi4. When I exited the game and tried to re-enter, I found that my pi would fade to black, prompt the "now loading emulator" popup, go blank, flicker that gray popup box, and then boot back to the Retropie screen.
As far as I know, the only setting I changed was the internal resolution inside. I checked the
runcommand.log
file, which gave me the following unhelpful information:Parameters: Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-ppsspp/ppsspp_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/psp/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psp/Crisis_Core_Final_Fantasy_VII_USA_READNFO_PSP-Googlecus/ggl-ccff7u.iso" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg 25:32:386 Thread/ThreadManager.cpp:109 I[SYSTEM]: ThreadManager::Init(compute threads: 4, all: 8) /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1304: 2899 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-ppsspp/ppsspp_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/psp/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psp/Crisis_Core_Final_Fantasy_VII_USA_READNFO_PSP-Googlecus/ggl-ccff7u.iso" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
I saw the thread linked above and tried its following troubleshooting steps:
- Deleted the Retroarch.cfg from /opt/retropie/configs/psp
- Renamed retroarch.cfg.rp-dist to retroarch.cfg
- Completely uninstalled lr-ppsspp and reinstalled it from binary.
However, no matter what, no PSP game will start. I've tried with Crisis Core and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. My other games (SNES, PSX, etc.) all boot without a hitch, but for whatever reason, I have completed hosed PSP functionality on this pi.
Please help?
Linked below is my Retroarch.cfg that came from retroarch.cfg.rp-dist, found at /opt/retropie/configs/psp
Thanks!!

Did you also try to reset your core options for PPSSPP ? They're in
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg
, the lines starting withppsspp_

@mitu Thanks for the reply! I’m not at my Pi at the moment but when I get situated, I’ll give that a shot and report back!
