I'm running the packaged 18.7 Kodi from RetroPie, and there are times when the subtitles jump from the normal position of the bottom of the screen to middle-left. I've narrowed the event down to that it happens when a line of text has more than 30 characters. I can turn off/on subtitles and the captions will be normal until it comes across another long line. I've repeated the scenario and am confidentvthis is when is happens.

I've posted in the Kodi forums, but they direct me to this Kodi's "fork's" version.
I've also posted earlier at Raspberry Pi.org, and, IIRC, they were dismissive also.
This is why I am mentioning this here at RetroPie.

I've noticed playback of the same video file on a Windows computer via VLC does not have the abnormality. Further, a burned-in rendition of subtitles (via HandBrake) shows the text in the bottom of the screen, but the excess text is invisible off past the display.

I'm hoping there may be some switches for FFMPEG's subtitle playback/rendering configuration.

@louf Sorry for the late response, I am currently not maintaining Kodi packages since Kodi 19 does not support H265 HW video decoding on RPi 3/2, which are the ones that I still use for Kodi.
About your problem, I can't really tell, never happened to me and I never anyone complaining about something like that. Can you reproduce your problem and post a Kodi debug log? A photo/screenshot may also help.
