Retropie - HDMI -> Component First setup

Hi guys,
Trying to setup retropie for my son, I originally had it over the component analog cable to my Sony CRT TV but after doing a little bit of research it seems that the clock speed? of the PI4 is greatly decreased over analog so I decided to purchase an HDMI to Component converter.

Here is the converter I purchased:

I was careful not to purchase an up-scaler because I read that can introduce some input latency. Hopefully I bought the right thing...

I completely formatted the SDCARD and rebuilt it using the Raspberry Pi Imager just so that all my analog config non-sense was gone.

When I boot up the pi I basically get a garbled video signal, then I get the rainbow screen, but it seems off center, then I get the CLI printout, again off center, then the RetroPi logo. Then a very long black screen, then more garbled video signal.

The only thing I changed in the config.txt is:
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=6

This was (so far) the only way I could even get the rainbow and Retropie logo to show up.

I suspect it has something to do with the output resolution and HDMI mode?

I'm gonna try other Modes in the meantime. I'd rather not use 480i since it produces a ton of flickering.

You may need to adjust the Overscan values for the TV.

@mitu Yes, I've adjusted the overscan values since posting and I got the image more center, however I still get a garbled video signal when emulation station eventually starts.

You can try with a different hdmi_group/hdmi_mode until you find one that works (240p modes maybe ?).
