Retropie x86 use dolphin from repository

Hey all. I'm building a retro arcade cabinet with light guns and all the works, and I'd like to use wiimote + dolphin for a handful of light gun games. I tried using lr-dolphin, but it doesn't connect my real wiimote, and the general advice from all over the web is that it's not good compared to the native dolphin.
So last night I installed dolphin from source. But it wouldn't launch games (failed to initialize video backend). I'm running an old 9800gt so I'm not surprised if bleeding edge dolphin doesn't support it anymore. However, the version of dolphin on the Ubuntu repository doesn't have any problem.
Is there a way to get dolphin from the repository to show up as a runcommand option instead of having to install from source?
/opt/retropie/configs/wiiand add a new emulator entry for the distro's version of
dolphin. You can then choose this version from the runcommand launch menu and make it the default for running Wii games.
