Joystick not working for Commodore emulator VICE in some games
-
Commodore 64 on Retropie:
Some games the joystick works (Pac-Man), but for other games the Joystick does not work - no response (Moon Patrol, Mr. Do....)I can't figure out why.
RetroPie 4.5
Emulator: VICE
My settings:
Machine Settings > Joystick Settings > Joystick Device 2 > Joystick -
@a1eg Enable the on screen keyboard and switch joystick port. Some games work with port setted to 1 and some other with port setted to 2.

@pscotto1234 THANK YOU
That did the trick!You saved me perhaps a weeks time. I would have been playing around with this, reinstalling the RetroPie image, starting from scratch, trying this that and everything. Then maybe if I was lucky I would have come up with the answer.
Thank you for saving my time and giving me the answer!
I wonder why some games are for Joystick 1 and some for Joystick 2. -

Joystick port 2 was usually the popular choice on C64, due to the fact that port 1 had some interference with the keyboard. For a discussion on this, see https://i.reddit.com/r/c64/comments/kc7yyh/why_was_joystick_port_2_more_popular_than_1/.
