Right now, there's no Vulkan support in the OS that RetroPie uses (Raspberry Pi OS).
A new version of the Raspberry Pi OS is in the works, based on the new stable Debian 11 'bullseye' release, and that will probably include Vulkan support. We'll see when this new RPI OS is released what's the Vulkan status and how this will be integrated in RetroPie.

I resurface this old thread, because at this point nothing has been mentioned about it, do you know anything?

@wicketewoks That's because not much has changed. While the new RasPi OS (based on bullseye) has been released for a year, the Vulkan driver only works under Xorg, which RetroPie doesn't use. Plus, support for the OS hasn't yet reached a stable release, but that will change sooner than later.
Any reason in particular for the intereset in Vulkan on the Pi ?

@wicketewoks I haven't tried from a clean install in months, but I was using the latest mesa/vulkan drivers available from the pikiss repo along with RetroPie on Bullseye(slightly modified by me to allow the Vulkan drivers to be used). The only benefit I saw was from lr-flycast. Which technically, the performance was more or less the same as the standalone version of flycast from cmitu's wip repo.

I tried recently with a backed up image but it was crashing ES. I would need to re-test from a clean install but I'd rather wait until RetroPie is officially supported on Bullseye to try again.

hello, good morning, I have no personal interest, I had read about it improving graphic performance, but I don't feel urgently, when the version with debian 11 is ready, I'll try it with pleasure, thanks to both of you for your answers
