My gf installed RetroPie but haven't been using it because her current demand is for games to be beautiful. And by that I mean visually beautiful. Like Gris beautiful.
Do you guys have any suggestions of visually beautiful games we can run on RetroPie?
      Thanks a lot!

@rickecan - beauty is in the eye of the beholder ... and as such, what is it that your gal will find beatiful?
I for myself, with the eyes of my teenage self, would consider Defender of the Crown (Amiga), Elite (C64 or better Archimedes), Vectrex (Arcade), or even Pitfall 2 (VCS2600) and Infernal Runner (C64) as such (just to be naming a few examples).

When it is about "beautiful" games "Flower", "Nier" (both not playable with a Pi) and some Cell-Shading-Games come in my mind, where the graphic is really some kind of art and not just calculated engine-textures without souls.
But as Ashpool said: it is in the eye of the beholder...

Could try some of the point and click games like Broken Sword 1 & 2 or Secret of Monkey Island 3.

Rez on Dreamcast is quite funky looking (although maybe not in the way you want).

The Saga Frontier games were good looking (although I always found them terrible to play).

The Locoroco games on PSP maybe.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on NDS. The animation is awesome and the game is full of fun, quirky characters.

Vib Ribbon on the PS1 is the opposite of a beautiful game, but the line art paradoxically makes it a beautiful game in an odd, simplistic way (in my eyes).

In terms of non Retropie games I’d strongly recommend Forgotten Anne and Child of Light if you haven’t already played those.

@rickecan I guess you are searching for games with a "hand-drawn" feeling ? "Earthworm Jim", "Aladdin" (megadrive) and "Cool Spot" could work. Some other games i might recommend on modern systems : both "Ori" games, both "Ni no Kuni" games, "Hollow Knight".

As for beautiful it's subject so sorry if it does not live up to what you are looking for. As far as beautiful games that can be emulated via RetroPie I can think of a few.
You could also look into RPG Maker games such as "Lavender", At least the titles that you can emulate for RPG Maker 2000/2003.

                      • "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island"has this beautiful pastel color and very vibrant look and feel to it, really good for the time it was released.

                      • "Summon Night Swordcraft Story 2" had some nice visuals for a GBA game (Action JRPG)
