Re: How to get Atari Fightstick working on Mint 19.3
Thanks barbudreadmon for the advice .I had to redo this posting because it's been over a year. I sidelined this project for a long time , but want to get this going. I tried to find the cmd txt line , but can't find it in Mint 19.3 . Any advice anyone? Once I find it ,I'm pretty sure I'm good to go. I got a bit of understanding from this YouTube link (

).( but this YouTube link relates to Raspberry PI . I have Linux Mint 19.3 on a Dell PC. I got into the terminal , entered the sudo command . Then I got into a GNU NANO screen in which I could not save the usbhid command. I need some advice / help on this. Thanks.

How exactly you cannot 'save the usbhid command' ? usbhid is not a command, it's part of the text you need to enter in the file you're editing with nano.
What are the commands you are executing and what error you get ?

@mitu Thanks for getting back so quickly. In terminal ,I entered the sudo command then a window popped up with the GNU Nano heading so I entered the USB text inside but no where to save it . https://photos.app.goo.gl/G4hNyNJhLcGBWuQt5

The commands look ok, but I don't see any error.
Press Ctrl + O to save and Ctrl + X to exit the editor, then reboot.

@ch I tried it again and like what you stated , I was able to input text and exit the nano, but still not working. I tried lsusb and the fightstick is not even beign detected. !Screenshot at 2021-11-29 12-49-47.png (top is fightstick connected bottom is fightstick disconnected) I tried to Google this issue but it seems like 99% are using this with Windows or PI. Do you know of any controllers other that XM-10 that are usable In Mint or Ubuntu?

If it doesn't even show up in the device list, then maybe there's a connection problem. Check the wiring/connection, maybe there's a loose end somewhere. Is the fight stick recognised on any other system (Windows/macOS) ?

@mitu . You have a point. I need to blown the cobwebs off my windows machine and check to make sure there is no problem with the controller . I know the little led lights up on the controller board . I will keep you posted. Thanks again.

Ok this case is solved or fixed , whatever you want to call it. I was able to connect controller to a windows machine , it will not connect with current micro usb , so I tried some others until one worked . I was able to see this in the device manager as a HID- compliant game controller. So now I tried it back on the Linux machine. checked in terminal with the lsmod and lsusb commands it came back as this.Screenshot at 2021-12-03 10-40-41.png Screenshot at 2021-12-03 10-45-00.png Then I tried it in Retropie. On the config screen it detected the Ximo msg. Controller works on games but have to spend some time mapping out. Something so simple ,crazy. I also tried it on another Linux machine with no Nano edit , it detected and worked fine ,so this is a plug and play device. Screenshot at 2021-11-30 10-29-30.png Thanks again for the input / help .
