RetroPie on MSI Wind U100
-
Pi Model or other hardware: MSI Wind U100 2GB Ram, etc.
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest):
Built From: Raspbian
USB Devices connected: USB Hub
Controller used: SNES Controllers
Error messages received: N/A
Verbose log (if relevant):
Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation
How to replicate the problem: Install on MSI WindI'm guessing it's my hardware, this was all an experiment. But after two install attempts (one over lubuntu, the other with Raspbian) I have finally got RetroPie to start. The problem is that no emulators are showing and no ROM directories were created. I created one and copied a ROM (SNES and it is the right extension, my Pi version works fine), but I can't get the emulators to show in the carousel. Now most likely, I am just looking for confirmation, it's the hardware. This thing is admittedly old and worn out but still functional. I don't know if these emulators are set up to run on the Atom processor.

@lordnightwinter Which Lubuntu/Raspbian version ?
Is the basic install working or you get errors during installation/compilation ? If the emulator(s) do not install, there should be a log file in
$HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs
where the error would be stored - open the log file for the installation and post the output on pastebin.com. -
@mitu Yeah I was getting errors, let me grab the log and post it. Eventually after running it multiple times everything installed but, apparently, not well. lol
-
@mitu The log file is so big it exceeds the pastebin limit.
-
@lordnightwinter Install just a single emulator and upload the log file for it if it gets an error. Or just upload the file to dropbox/gdrive/one drive if you have it.
-
@mitu This thing is so slow it would be faster just to do this!

Would it possible to access the file without a Google login - can you make it public ?
-
@mitu Try that again, sorry. I'm simultaneously working so I forgot to change the permissions.

Looking at the log, the only errors are due to network connectivity or some issue with github.com:
rror running 'git clone --recursive --depth 1 --branch master https://github.com/libretro/snes9x.git /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-snes9x' - returned 1 Error running 'git clone --recursive --depth 1 --branch master https://github.com/libretro/stella2014-libretro.git /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-stella2014' - returned 128 Error running 'git clone --recursive --depth 1 --branch master https://github.com/libretro/vba-next.git /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-vba-next' - returned 128 Error running 'git clone --recursive --depth 1 --branch master https://github.com/libretro/libretro-vecx.git /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-vecx' - returned 128
Other than that, I see the other emulators installed ok - RetroArch, EmulationStation, etc. I don't see an issue from the hardware.
The reason the SNES folder is missing is because the SNES emulator (
lr-snes9x
) didn't install properly. You may try to install it again - see the docs and see if you still get an error. -
@mitu Alrighty, I'll give it another go then! Thank you! :)
