Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi4 8gig (purchased Aug 2021 from CanaKit)
Power Supply used: unit provided in kit
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: I do not know how to answer this. I believe I followed instructions from the kit and it would have been from RetroPie, I do not know how to find out this info)
USB Devices connected: Atari Arcade dual flightstick w trackball, keyboard
Controller used: Atari Arcade dual flightstick w trackball
      Error messages received: N/A
      Verbose log (if relevant): N/A
      Guide used: N/A
      File: N/A
      Emulator: Emulationstation

First off, I am very new to this, so assume you are talking to a person that has a vague grasp of computers and no clue on Lynux or any other OS.

      My problem:
At the moment I have NES, SuperNes and Arcade ROMS loaded in the Pi and they are what I play from. I believe Emulationstation is the emulator I use with all the games. With in RetroPie I have also created a favorites folder of the games I care to play out of the thousands that seem to be loaded into the system. I have scraped so I can have the art and info to go with the games. I have found multiple issues and I am not sure if they are related so I have broken them down into individual parts. Again, I am new to this.

Part A, I was unable to scrape just the items in my "Favorites". I created "Favorites" by pressing Y on my controller.

Part B, when I did scrape, it only scraped items in my "Arcade" folder, even when all the systems where checked (accept Favorites, which was not a system offered as one to scrape)

Part C, what was scraped in Arcade, it only scraped items from that started with a number to the letter "G".

I am using the Scraper that was included in the system, I have not added any other scraper (I have looked how to do this, but it seems advanced).

I am using a Mac, but unable to remotely access it for I have lost my password. Again, I have looked up how to fix this, but it seems advanced and any tutorial I have found assumes the viewer has a fare amount of knowledge of programing, which I do not.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
      Scott

Favorites is a special collection, but it's not a system, so it can't be scraped - you need to scrape by system.

Part B, when I did scrape, it only scraped items in my "Arcade" folder, even when all the systems where checked (accept Favorites, which was not a system offered as one to scrape)

Did it stop after the arcade system or just had errors and didn't scrape the other systems ?

Part C, what was scraped in Arcade, it only scraped items from that started with a number to the letter "G".

Each scraping source used by EmulationStation has some limits for the number of scrapes allowed per client. If you have scraped a lot of roms, the scraping source might have blocked your access until the quota is reset.

I am using a Mac, but unable to remotely access it for I have lost my password.

Which password and what kind of access ?
The default user/password for the RetroPie image is pi/raspberry - did you reset the password and forget about it ?
If you're talking about accessing your ROM/BIOS/Config folders via file shares, then you can access them as guest, without the need for user/password.

I did forget to mention that items that did get scraped in the arcade system did not make it to the favorites (images and info)

It actually stopped about midway thru the "F"'s in the Arcade. I let the system scrape with out my interference, I did not see any errors when I returned to the Pi.

Part C, what was scraped in Arcade, it only scraped items from that started with a number to the letter "G".

Any idea when the quota gets reset? There are something like 8400 Roms on the systems. It probably scrapes 100's of ROMS maybe a 1000.

I am trying to remotely access the pi from my Mac Laptop.

          Thanks for the insight

EmulationStation has 2 scraper sources - TheGamesDB.net and ScreenScraper.fr. The former has a monthly request quota and the latter a daily quota.

Yeah, that doesn't answer any of the clarification questions posted.
What access method are you trying (SSH/File Shares) ? What user/password combination did you try ?

Thanks for the info on the quota's and waiting period. I will attempt more scraping when I am allowed.

That further exposes my lack of knowledge on the subject. I do not know what method I was trying. While in finder I pressed "command K", it then says connecting to smb://retropie, I am then asked to log in either as a guest or my username.

I have also tried what I believed to my username and password I created, it failed. I also tried to use the default username: pi and its password: raspberry, and it too failed.

I can connect when I enter as a guest and get into the bios, ROMS and Splashscreens volumes, I believe it is called. I am not sure what this means or what I can do with it.

SMB should be set up for guest access, by default. Choose that.

Any idea why what I have Scraped in Arcade has not show up in my favorites?

I will say if an item was Scraped to the Arcade and then moved to Favorites, the scraped info migrated to that area. Items already in my Favorites did not populate scraped info in the Arcade.

Also a deleted item in Favorites is gone. I assumed it would return to the Arcade, but it is not there. Does this mean when you delete from the Favorites, you are deleting it from the system?
