New Forum = Awesome!

Wow, it's so fast, and snappy, and good looking, and all these new features to play with, and, and! [/ tries to stop hyperventilating]
I have some questions about the transition though:
1 - Are old topics going to be transferred?
1a - How long will the old forum remain (so I can harvest all I need from it)?
2 -Do we have / get Tapatalk integration? No, we dont want that crap with such a nice mobile integration of the native site, wow again!
3 - Can we get more (maybe staggered) catagories? Are these things open for discussion?
For instance, I would like some subsections in Ideas and Feature Requests, maybe RetroPie Setup Scripts / MAME / ES / whatever.
Same for Projects and Themes, why not have two categories, or subsections for HW / Theming / ...
It would also help to narrow things down for new users if the Help and Support would not be a single bucket of topics ranging all over the place. I can imagine that these categories could reflect the Wiki structure, just to throw out an idea.
4 - Link-back to the wiki is rather circumvent at the moment, would be nice to have a menu item to go there directly from the forum pages. Bonus points if the forum were wiki-aware, so we could link to specific pages some something like a dropdown menu or somesuch
5 - oh and I want a pony! :-)Also, I just learned about Mythic-Beasts! You guys are awesome!

Announcement.
So I guess that answers #1, time to try and salvage what needs to be salvaged. I have about 50 favorites over multiple devices/browsers, time to do some cleaning up!Maybe it's a nice idea to create a new category on the wiki for HW related bits and pieces?

Thanks.
1a - for as long as it is needed - but at some point it probably wont be too useful. Many of the older topics on it are not relevant to the current version of RetroPie.
3 - We intentionally decided to keep the number of areas low. I think it's easier to not have to worry about which category out of many to put a post - and we have things like tagging and a decent search for navigating.
-
Added a wiki link in the header.
-
I second all the above statements! Didn't want to make a separate post to congratulate you on the new forums!
But I must admit it looks GORGEOUS!
-
I'd agree with keeping the number of categories low and use tagging instead.
-
Amen, because you used to get "New user help" but also "Controller config" which just separated posts.
I would imagine 90% (if not more!) of all posts are related to support so keeping it all in one place is good. We have seen in the past the topics get split up anyway.

Pleased you like the new forum - I am very happy with it too, especially the performance (which was one of the criteria when looking for a solution).
Cheers!

Hellow there, nice to see you in the new forum, I got a few bugs on kids emulationstation that I would like to report, but since I am unable to post on older forum maybe would be wise restore the topic in this new forum ;)
