      i cant figure out how to change which display im using for the main emulation station it always goes to the hdmi instead of the rpi display i installed

        Please add some more info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

        What kind of display do you have installed ? Is it connected via the GPIO pins ?

          @mitu im using a rpi display connected to the pins and im using a raspi 4 model B 8 gb

            This kind of display will not work without additional configuration (in config.txt) - which is usually documented by the vendor or by the display's manufacturer.
            You need to find the make/model of the display you're using and if the vendor/manufacturer site has the configuration you need to add to your system.
