      Hello,
I recently attempted to install retro pi on my linux machine (Ubuntu 20.04) but the setup script appears to be failing.RetroPie-Setup version:

      4.7.20 (8180ff56)
      System: x86 (x86_64) - Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS - Linux x 5.4.0-94-generic #106-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 6 23:58:14 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I have included few of the screenshots obtained during the failed installation.

I ran into a similar problem while attempting to install the same version onto a raspberry pi 4 - 4gb.
I can include some of the logs if this is helpful as well.

      Thanks in advance.

@djdubs1212 I can't see any screenshots? You should be able to copy and paste them into the text window.

Logs would be helpful, yes. right now we don't have anything :)

@dankcushions Sorry. I thought I attached the screenshots. Apparently the uploads didn't like my zipped files :)

The root of the install issue seems to be the inability to install some needed packages:

              ...
              Reading state information...
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libpulse-dev : Depends: libglib2.0-dev but it is not going to be installed
libsdl2-dev : Depends: libibus-1.0-dev but it is not going to be installed
              ...

Do you have held packages, as the error message suggests ? Did you add any 3rd party apt/ppa repositories that might confuse the package manager ?

@mitu Good to go! Thanks. I wonder if this was the same problem I ran into while using the Official Imager for a raspberry pi. I ran into quite a few problems a few weeks ago but I don't have any logs for that one. I know it was related to an emulationstation error.

                  Thanks!

Well, what exactly was the problem in this case ?

Unlikely to be the same thing, though, since the RetroPie image comes preinstalled and you don't need to do a basic install.

@mitu I don't recall. I can see if I can replicate the issue sometime later this weekend.

@mitu It looks like Emulation Station is crashing now on boot.
                        Disregard.

I was able to reset the
