I just got my raspberry pi 4 2gb and have been playing with it but i cant get retropie to work i only get the boot screen and "start4.elf not compatible. This board requires newer software" and i have searched for hours for answer's but nothing has work. Im new to this so any help would be helpful.

@aquemini1999 we can't support a preloaded image. You need to write the image from our website onto the card. You can follow the instructions in the docs https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/ but use the download from the weekly folder.

@Darksavior why is it that this is happening with the other images that are for the pi 4?

@knoxy The latest RetroPie release - 4.8 - should work without issue. As @BuZz mentioned, if you're using a 3rd party image, then we don't support those. Use the RetroPie image from retropie.org.uk/download.
