Sega Smash Pack Vol 1 for Dreamcast

Has anyone gotten this rom to work in either flycast or redream? It launches for me, but when I select Virtual Cop 2, it either locks up or returns to emulation station.

I try Virtual Cop 2 from Sega Smah Pack Vol1 (USA) , it's crashing with lr-flycast but it's running fine with Redream emulator.

@windg I'm running my own image on a R4. You say it runs fine on Redream? Do you happen to know what version of Redream you're running?

I check Redream package info but it doesn't have the version number. To help you i have RetroPIe 4.7.20 version with latest updates.

I played Virtua Cop 2 with the previous release of lr-flycast.
It is offline again because of the NAOMI-issues, but it was able to launch Virtua Cop 2, which is a WinCE game.
And it was one of the few CE Games that worked great!
This might be the reason why it is crashing with the current lr-flycast which is not able to run CE games.
Cant test it, i dont have the Smash Packs.

@windg Same here. Rest of the games in the rom work fine, but virtual cop 2 freezes on launch.

Yes, the older version of lr-flycast doesn't run WinCE games. That means that Virtua Cop 2 won't work either in its standalone Japanese form or in the Smash Pack.

The newer lr-flycast did run both releases of the game very well on my Pi for the brief time I used it except for one nagging issue: if you played with a lightgun, the game would briefly freeze every time you pulled the trigger.

The issue did not occur when using a regular controller.

@drdave79 dead end for a unknown time of course! I dont think that the devs of lr-flycast came to the conclusion "oh...when we have issues with NAOMI with our latest release we finish the project!"
There will be an update which will fix the issues for sure.

I don't know the technical details, but the impression I got from reading discussions is that the NAOMI issue is due to something with RetroPie specifically and is currently being investigated.

The Virtua Cop 2 issue with freezing upon firing with a lightgun is isolated to the libretro port of current Flycast, and it doesn't seem that the issue is being investigated.
