I have RetroPie 4.7.20 running on a RPi4. ioquake3 installs Ok. I see it in Ports but when I go to run it, the dialog box comes up then it goes straight back to Port screen. I have installed Quake, Doom and they work fine.
I have a RetroPie 4.7.1 which I can run ioquake3 (on the same RPi4) and it works fine.
Not sure how to trouble shoot.
      Any help greatly appreciated.
      Thanks

Post the contents of the log file - /dev/shm/runcommand.log - taken after running ioquake3.

Thank you for your quick reply. The contents of the runcommand.log ......

          Executing: /opt/retropie/ports/ioquake3/ioquake3.aarch64 +set cl_renderer opengl1 +set r_mode -1 +set r_customwidth 1920 +set r_customheight 1080 +set r_swapInterval 1
/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1304: /opt/retropie/ports/ioquake3/ioquake3.aarch64: No such file or directory

Looks like ioquake3.aarch file missing? How do I get and install this program

          Regards Frank

Looks like the port didn't install ok.

Are you running on a 64bit OS ? Support for it is beta at the moment, so something might not work. How did you install RetroPie ?

RetroPie was installed on Twister distro of Raspberry Pi. It is a 32bit OS. Is that the problem?

Is the ioquake3 emulator in optional packages in Retropie (version 4.7.20) 64bit?
              Regards

For the Pi, we only support RetroPie on Raspberry Pi OS (the former Raspbian). Use that and you should have no issues.

I'm not familiar with Twister, but it may be configured with the 64bit kernel and a 32bit userland, which is not supported by RetroPie.

                  Thank you foryour advice.
I will attempt to install RetroPie manually on my Raspberry Pi 4 running Raspberry Pi OS. I want to have the experience of manually installing RetroPie.
I think Retropie is brilliant and I am keen to get it working correctly and use all it's features.
Once again thank you for your help.
                  Regards Frank
