I'm sure others have asked by now, but I'm not finding anything...

How well is the 1 gig version vs. the 2 gig version of the pi4 on emulation. I'd like to use it up to the psx/n64 era of games.

I'd prefer to get a 2gig version, but with the lack of availability of pi boards... I can get a 1gig version right now though.

@stevenb The same. 1GB is probably not enough for comfortable for desktop work etc. But it's fine for RetroPie.

@stevenb said in Raspberry Pi4 1 gig performance.:

I would recommend the 2 gig over the 1 gig but the 1 gig model would be fine for retropie but if your attaching a display directly on the pie you would need a 2 gig model. (FYI some N64 games will run terribly for example Golden eye 007 runs terribly and I have a raspberry pie 4b 4 gig model) The 2 gig model is available here for a regular price https://www.canakit.com/raspberry-pi-4-2gb.html

That's not, in my opinion, available. A preorder for a month from now or buying a bundle of stuff I don't need. I might as well get an overpriced one off ebay....

@stevenb Guess so... they are super over priced during the shortage if you want one regular priced you have to wait, the wait might not be worth it.

And of course adafruit put 4gb pi's up not an hour after I posted this. So of course I jumped on it. Now, an hour after that, they are out of stock of 4gb, but the 2gb is in stock.
Oh well, 4gb is overkill, but it's better than scalping prices off elsewhere.
