      I am trying to play some games for the Sega Genesis. I have a USB stick that I created a new folder on, and I named it : Retropie . When I open the folder called roms, I see a long list of systems that are supported by the Emulation Station. But, I don't see any named Genesis . How do I transfer the Genesis roms?

          @sleve_mcdichael I do see the megadrive folder, and, I also see the Master System folder. Does that have anything to do with the Sega Genesis?

            @SteavinRice
            In any place outside the USA, it was called MegaDrive.
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis

            The Sega Master System was the previous generation, to compete with the NES.

            In the RetroPie system, the megadrive and genesis folders refer to the same location. One is simply a 'shortcut' of sorts to the other. Anything placed inside one folder should be visible in both.

              What about the TurboGraphics-16?

                @SteavinRice in folder /pcengine/

                FYI the docs pages have the folder locations for all supported systems. eg https://retropie.org.uk/docs/PC-Engine/

                  @YFZdude I placed the roms in both of those folders, but I don't see them in the Retropie? What else do I need to do to play Sega Genesis games?

                    @YFZdude I placed the roms in both of those folders,

                    They're the same folder. "genesis" doesn't actually exist, it's just a "link" to "megadrive." When you put something in "genesis," it goes in "megadrive." Then when you look in "genesis," you're actually seeing inside "megadrive."

                    but I don't see them in the Retropie? What else do I need to do to play Sega Genesis games?

                    Reboot the system or restart EmulationStation.

                      @sleve_mcdichael Thanks. But, I just realized that I have been trying with incorrect roms. I got the whole collection from a friend who had them labeled as Genesis roms. But, they don't work in the Megadrive or Master System. I just downloaded a few Genesis roms, and they worked perfectly!
