I bought a DIY joystick kit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XHM5JPE) and hooked everything up and tested it in Windows. The buttons and joystick worked fine. I went into my RetroPie and configured the controller, and it seemed like it took just fine. But when I exit that and go to the main menu, the joystick works, and the "B" button works, but none of the other buttons work.

I can't figure out why it's not working. I updated RetroPie to the latest version, but don't know what else to do.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any help is appreciated.

I just found the jstest and ran that. All the buttons and joystick axis are registering with that. So RetroPie sees the controller but it's not working in the menu or games.

I reinstalled RetroPie all over again and the joystick setup works fine now. Couldn't figure out what was causing this issue.
