8bitdo Pro 2

First of all this controller is great and runs so smooth! I am running into a small issue though, it never defaults to player #1 when another controller is hardwired in. This is an issue for me because I use a fight stick for mame and like to leave it plugged in. I can force the pro 2 controller to get it to work that way but every time the controller is shut off my fight stick or anything hardwired defaults back to player one and it doesn't switch back.

@Refazeshot1
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Configuration-Editor/If the emulators you use are libretro based,
lr-*
, then an easy thing you can try is use the Configuration Editor and there is an option under basic libretro emulator options forchoose joypad order
. You can choose to set this preference for either an individual libretro emulator or for all libretro emulators.I've used this to specify that when I launch lr-mame2003 for arcade games, it will use the fightstick for player 1, but all other emulators can prefer my wireless controller as player 1.

@YFZdude Thanks for the prompt reply. The problem I am running into I have tried this. When My wireless controller dies or is shuts off, player one goes to my fight stick. It actually defaults on all my LR bases emulators and I have to switch it back in the configuration editor. My controller shuts off every 15 minutes when its idle. So when I am done playing my MAME games with the fight stick, my wireless controller doesn't work for all my games, it acts as second player even though I specified in the editor my 8bitdo is player one for all the others. I am just doing the "Config all emulators" option in the editor. Do I need to do each system individually?

@Refazeshot1 You may try another method to re-order the joysticks - by name instead of using the index. It might work better in this case.
You'll have to install @meleu's script from https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection, remove the configuration done with Configuration Editor and then use the joystick selection script to set the order, based on joystick's names. -
@mitu We are now in working order!! This worked like a charm. Thank you so much.
